Jan Zalasiewicz is a geologist, palaeontologist, and stratigrapher. He is Emeritus Professor of Paleobiology at the University of Leicester and a member of the Anthropocene Working Group. He has taught on and researched geology and earth history, in particular on fossil ecosystems and environments that span over half a billion years of geological time. He is the author of hundreds of articles and most recently published The Cosmic Oasis: The Remarkable Story of Earth’s Biosphere (Oxford University Press, 2022).
